India stands united as a nation against terrorism, says Sonia Gandhi

NEW DELHI : The Congress today reiterated that on issue of terrorism regardless of political differences among various parties, India stood united as a nation.
Condemning the incident of cross border terrorist attack in Gurdaspur, at the Congress Parliamentary Party(CPP) meeting here, party Chief Sonia Gandhi said “This is a heinous act of wanton violence and when faced with such an assault, regardless of our political differences, we stand united as a nation”.
“We salute those who have sacrificed their lives,” she said, adding “Our sympathies are with the bereaved families”.
On July 27, three terrorists entered Dinanagar, Punjab, which is 15-km away from the Indo-Pakistan international border, and killed three civilians. Following the attack, an 11-hour gun battle ensued with security forces, at the end of which all the terrorists and three security personnel were killed. Recently, Congress party found itself on a backfoot, when Home Minister Rajnath Singh accused previous UPA government of coining the term ‘Hindu Terrorism’ which damaged India’s image and its fight against terror.
